After meeting a strange man in the forest of Northern Alabama, seventeen-year-old Seth McClure decides it's time to find his parents, missing on a business trip for almost a year. The millennia old spell hidden in his mind, placed there by his father and shown to him by this stranger was only part of his decision. There was also being made the doorway to a demon and the Elven team of assassins. Seth is shoved into a totally new world where magic and magical beasts exist, where virtually everybody is out to get him, and war and conspiracy could mean the end of everything.

With every book, there will be people that dislike it, and people that like it. I am quite happy to say that I am one of those people that liked this book. To give a brief glimpse of why, I'll follow through below. Possible spoiler warning! Though I do try and keep those from being too blatant.1. Seth isn't the standard hero you find in many of the current modern/fantasy setting books. From all authors, indie to best sellers.
What do I mean by that you ask? He doesn't mope through the entire book, about how horrible his life is. He doesn't cry because his super special love interest doesn't realize he's alive. He doesn't spend half of the book staring oh so longingly at said super special love interest. Nor is he your standard 'ME MAN! YOU WOMAN! ME PROTECT YOU WEAK!'.
2. Duff doesn't rely on a random, and excessive smattering of blatant sexual smut writing to maintain a reader's interest. Shockingly! There's no sex at all located in the book. It was bloody refreshing not to flip a page and be smacked in the face with a fade to bedroom scene every other page, let me tell you.
3. This one some people might complain about. Point of fact, another reviewer HAS complained about it, citing it as the reason why they would not recommend this book. Seth is not a weak character. In fact, he only get's stronger as the book goes on. Able to meet the challenges he faces through sheer good luck, and godly power.
Now, let me be clear here. This particular genre of books. Modern/Fantasy, Modern/Paranormal, whatever you want to call it. It's awash with books that have their heroes and heroines, holding god like powers. Being described by their authors as penultimates in abilities and skills. Yet. In nearly 99 out of 100 of these books, said hero and/or heroine, are whiney, angst ridden, sobbing, crying, just plain STUPID, characters. They always need to be rescued, or saved. They traipse right into giving the 'bad guy' openings that the slightest shred of common sense would say, DON'T DO! It is standard practice these days, to apparently write your hero of the story as a god, with the intelligence of a fly, the backbone of a slug, and the common sense of a lemming rushing for the cliff's edge.
Seth is not a victim, he isn't angst ridden, he isn't whiney, and he DOES have incredible, God like power, that get's used! It's not THERE and NEVER seen! That alone makes this book different from the majority out there, and makes it worth a read in my opinion. The lack of an attempt to gouge the readers by hiking prices to material copy price, for an ebook, just makes me love this author all the more.
TLDR> Loved the book. Read it. You'll love it too. I'm on the second right now.

Brothers Legacy of the TwiceDead God eBook Scott V Duff Reviews
This book surprised me, I got it because i was looking for a distraction from a relatively boring summer and found a hidden gem. The characters are interesting and unique with a hero who is interesting and powerful but has to deal with his own inexperience and come to terms with the violence that has become a regular part of his life. All in all a fun read.
This book is good and fun to read. When can we get the 2nd book?
It's very rare that I rate 5 stars. It's based on how much I was able to immerse myself in the book, not on spelling mistakes or grammar. I enjoyed it so much I found myself reading it during work, in the bathroom, during meals, while Christmas shopping. There are some minor errors but they did not detract from the story.
What a great epic saga, The author packed a lot into this book. Even though it was hard at times to actually visualize or imagine some of the scenarios that he was trying to describe that the lead character was doing it was still a great book. Mr. Duff painted a very convincing picture of this world and all of it's characters. I'm kinda surprised that in this day and time of many authors creating multi book series that Mr.Duff did not cut this book up into two or three, although I for one am very grateful that he did not. It is truly worth the price and time to read. I am definitely planning on purchasing the next book in this very fascinating series. Well Done.
The first half of the book was especially well done. I was quickly immersed and lost in the story. the second half was a bit of a letdown, and the protagonist started acting childish and arrogant, but I liked the end. An excellent read, and quite long too which is always a pleasure. It's been a while since a Fantasy book captured and kept my interest as well.
An entertaining wish-fulfillment quest story, which didn't get too hung up on the quest part. Certainly packed with action.
Lacks female characters, for which the author kind of apologized. No romance or sex.
The second book, Sons, follows the same trail, and refreshingly doesn't dump the protagonist for a different viewpoint.
